July 2012
To commemorate Chile’s role in the origin of the social youth orchestra movement of the Americas and the legacy of Maestro Jorge Peña Hen, YOA Orchestra of the Americas will undertake a national concert tour of Chile in July 2012. The tour involves the collaboration of Fundación de Orquestas Juveniles e Infantiles de Chile (FOJI): Joining YOA musicians from across the Americas will be 15 young Chilean musicians of FOJI selected to represent each of the country’s regional youth orchestras. In addition to presenting concerts in Chile’s major concert halls including Teatro Las Condes, Teatro Municipal - Valparaiso, and Teatro del Lago - Frutillar, this combined YOA -FOJI orchestra will offer performances in cities throughout Chile, as well as local outreach at various points along the way.
