Philip Glass Presents: Days and Nights

August 26-27, 2011

A select group of YOA String Players will join the Days And Nights Festival Players on August 2011 for the Programs #3 and #4 of the festival. This String Quartet will perform with Molissa Fenley and Philip Glass.

Young Euro Classic Berlin 2011

August 16, 2011

YOA returned to Young Euro Classic Festival performing at Berlin's Konzerthaus on 16 August 2011. 26 string musicians representing 15 countries of the Americas perform in concert featuring Kotaro Fukumo, piano; Felipe Hidalgo, conductor; and Eddy Marcano, violin and conductor. Program included works by Golijov, Grainger, Bach, Plaza, and Tchaikovsky.

2011 Mexico Tour

July 7 - August 3, 2011

YOA will begin a 17-concert tour led by Carlos Miguel Prieto (Mexico) and Dante Anzolini (Argentina) with world-class soloists, including famous folkloric ensemble, Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, Philippe Quint and Jue Wang.

Dominican Republic

October 2010

YOA was presented in two concerts in Santo Domingo (Teatro Colon & Plaza España) by the Foreign Ministry of the Dominican Republic and Fundación Sinfonia in celebration of Santo Domingo as 2010 Cultural Capital of the Americas. Soloists included the winners of the Santander International Piano Competition.

Carnegie Hall

February 2010

YOA performance in Carnegie Hall with Valery Gergiev, Julian Rachlin, Joshua Bell, and Carlos Miguel Prieto in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the World Economic Forum. Guest speakers included Klaus Schwab, James Wolfensohn, John Hope Bryant, Deborah Bordah.

Santa Lucia, Jamaica, Haiti

October / November 2009

YOA joined a team of expert orchestral coaches from Colombia and Venezuela to launch Orchestra Program for Youth at Risk in the Caribbean. This ongoing project is an initiative of the Organization of American States (OAS) with YOA Orchestra of the Americas, FESNOJIV (Fundación del Estado para el Sistema Nacional de las Orquestas Juveniles e Infantiles de Venezuela), and Fundación Batuta (Colombia).

Denver

July 2010

YOA presented at the Biennial of the Americas in Denver, Colorado by the Organization of American States featuring Eddy Marcano and Felipe Hidalgo. Featured on NPR radio.

Latin American Tour

June / July / August 2010

24-concert tour of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil featuring concerts with Joshua Bell and other special guests. Philip Glass as Composer in Residence. Tour included the founding of Filarmonica Joven de Colombia and an official celebration of the Bicentennial in Cartagena for an audience of more than 7,000.

USA, Canada Tour

July / August 2009

Following a residence at the New England Conservatory that featured four concerts in the Boston area, including TEDx Boston, Jordan Hall, and the Heifetz Institute, YOA made its Canadian Debut in Quebec's most prestigious summer festivals: Domaine Forget, Palais Montcalm, and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra's Knowlton Festival. Performances in Washington DC included Strathmore Music Center, the Hall of the Americas, and the ARK. Guest artists included Matt Haimovitz, Gabriela Montero, Benjamin Zander, and others.
