In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of YOA Orchestra of the Americas’ Inaugural Tour and in recognition of the profound contributions made by Maestro Carlos Miguel Prieto throughout its history, YOA is honored to announce the appointment of Mexican Conductor Carlos Miguel Prieto as Music Director. As Principal Conductor from 2002 to present, a position shared with Gustavo Dudamel, Maestro Prieto has served YOA as an extraordinary role model, a world-class conductor, and a passionate teacher.
Guided by Artistic Advisor, Plácido Domingo, YOA Orchestra of the Americas’ (YOA) 10th Anniversary Season includes a Tour of China under conductor Jose Serebrier in December 2011 / January 2012, as well as a nationwide Tour of Chile in July 2012 under the baton of Carlos Miguel Prieto with guest artists Sarah Chang (violin), Louis Lortie (piano), Gabriela Montero (piano), and the Winner (to be announced in December 2011) of the 2011 Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal Standard Life Competition – Canada’s premier international music competition.
