Dr. Ronald Goodman is a partner in the Foley Hoag firm’s Washington office and cochairs the firm’s international arbitration and litigation practice.
Dr. Goodman concentrates his practice in international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, with a focus on commercial, investor-state, project, energy, and construction matters. He represents foreign government and corporate clients in numerous international arbitration proceedings, including those before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), United Nations Compensation Commission, London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), American Arbitration Association (AAA), European Development Fund, International Arbitral Centre of the Federal Economic Chamber Vienna, as well as various U.S. courts. Dr. Goodman also sits as arbitrator in international arbitrations. He also advises governments with respect to law reform, restructuring, treaties, privatization and project finance matters.
Dr. Goodman was a member of the legal staff of the Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal in the Hague. From 1988 to 1996 he was a member of the Editorial Board of Arbitration International. He is now an Adjunct Professor of Law at American University Law School where he teaches Investor-State Dispute Resolution.
