Born in Venezuela to Chilean parents, Raul began his musical education at the School of Music of La Serena, Chile. He later graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music with a Bachelor’s in Music Performance, and from Temple University with a Master’s in Music. Raul has held positions as a member of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, World Youth Orchestra, YOA Orchestra of the Americas, as well as with the Schleswig-Holstein Orchestra, Verbier Orchestra, and Spoleto USA Music Festival. He has performed with celebrated orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Hong Kong Philharmonic, and has collaborated with artists such as Chung Myung-Whung, Charles Dutoit, Sir Simon Rattle, Valery Gergiev, James Levine, Yo-Yo Ma, and Plácido Domingo, among others. Raul has performed in concert halls in Korea and around the world, including a special performance at the Blue House for the presidents of Korea and Chile. He has also been profiled on KBS TV and ARTE TV, and has been featured on segments for TBS eFM 101.3 Radio “Meet Your Neighbor,” KBS Radio en español, and Arirang TV “Semipermanent” and “Innerview” shows. Raul is a founding member of The Art of Giving Cultural Alliance and leader of the Latin American Ensemble CHIKO. He is the Artistic Director of the Performing Arts Series at Yonsei International Campus, Coordinator of the Global Leaders Program of YOA Orchestra of the Americas, and Associate Principal Percussionist with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.
